MAT Advisement Procedures

Certification Track  -  for initial PA Teacher Certification

The Master of Arts Teaching Program for Pennsylvania teacher certification.

This Track certifies degree-holding individuals as secondary education teachers in one of eleven secondary education areas. This certification component of the program can be completed in less than two year (five consecutive semesters including summer).  Students wishing to complete the Master's degree will need to take extra semesters.

Secondary Certification is only in these areas:

  • Art Education
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Communications  
  • Earth Science
  • English
  • French
  • Physics
  • Mathematics
  • Social Studies
  • Spanish

The links below are for detailed advisement forms that list the required undergraduate courses.  You may transfer in undergraduate courses that you have already taken.  Please complete this form before meeting with the coordinator.  Download and save (right click on link and "Save Target As ...") on your computer the advisement sheet that applies to your area of certification. 

Read through the required courses.  If you have taken equivalent courses that you would like to transfer in, complete the section describing the course you have taken that corresponds with the required course.

You can type in the MS Word version form or hand print the PDF version.  Email or fax your completed form to Dr. Zisk.
